1,500 Hearts, One Mission: ACE Charity Walk 2026 Triumphs for Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital

A strong spirit of unity and purpose defined the ACE Charity Walk 2026, where approximately 1,500 participants came together for a 5-kilometre walk to raise funds for Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital, supporting its vital, life-saving care for children across Cambodia.

Held at the National Olympic Stadium, the event gathered a diverse community of students, educators, business leaders, diplomatic representatives, and families—demonstrating the impact of collective action for a shared humanitarian cause.

The event was presided over by HE Dr Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, reflecting the Royal Government’s strong commitment to advancing education, healthcare, and community wellbeing.

Distinguished guests joining the walk included HE Dr Kem Sethany, MOEYS Secretary of State, HE Christian DesRoches, Ambassador of Canada to Cambodia and Madam, Ms Bridget Collier, Chargé d’Affaires of the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, Ms Tennealle O’Shannessy, Chief Executive Officer of IDP Education, Mr Raja Sood, IDP Regional Director, and Mr Sreng Mao, Country Director of IDP Education and the Australian Centre for Education (ACE), Mr Ashley Irving, ACE Principal and President of Australian Chamber of Commerce, Mr Martin Darby, Executive Director of British Chamber of Commerce.

The morning commenced with a dynamic warm-up led by the SUSU Running Team, setting a spirited and purposeful tone for the day ahead. This was followed by the National Anthem and opening remarks, before participants embarked on the 5-kilometre walk, united under the shared call to “Walk to Save Lives.”

More than a charity event, the initiative reflects the broader mission of the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) to shape well-rounded individuals, championing not only academic excellence but also values of compassion, responsibility, and service within its community.

As the world’s leading provider of English language teaching and training services, the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) is at the forefront of corporate social responsibility.

“The ACE Charity Walk is about more than fundraising,” said Mr Sreng Mao, Country Director of IDP Education and the Australian Centre for Education (ACE), and founder of this CSR initiative. “It brings students, partners, and community together to make a meaningful difference, while instilling values of empathy and responsibility that extend far beyond the classroom.”

Supported by a wide network of partners, sponsors, and institutions, the event showcased a strong cross-sector commitment to social responsibility. Their contributions, prominently featured on event materials and participant shirts, symbolised a collective effort to support children in need.

Following the walk, participants joined a networking and celebration session, engaging with partner booths, capturing memories, and commemorating the initiative’s success. Funds raised will directly support Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital, which continues to provide free, high-quality care to millions of Cambodian children each year.

The strong turnout and enthusiastic participation underscore the growing role of educational institutions like Australian Centre for Education (ACE) in fostering meaningful community engagement and contributing to national development. Together, the event served as a powerful reminder that when communities unite with purpose, even small steps can create a lasting impact.

We wholeheartedly thank all participants, partners, sponsors, and volunteers for making the ACE Charity Walk 2026 a remarkable success. “Together, we walk not just for today, but for a healthier, brighter future,” Sreng added.
