2,000 Scholarships Provided by MoEYS & ACE to Cambodian Students Preparing for 2020 High School Graduation Exams

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) and the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) launched a ‘Digital English Scholarships’ program to support the on-going learning of grade 12 students by distance in the face of the COVID-19 situation while they are preparing for 2020 graduation exams.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed between MoEYS and ACE on the 28th May 2020, will see the provision of 2,000 scholarships for students preparing for their upcoming High School Graduation Exams, to receive digital learning training and to study English virtually from home.
The Digital English Scholarships initiative is introduced as part of the ACE Corporate Social Responsibility Program and to compliment the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts to assist Cambodian students to achieve a higher level of proficiency in the English language, through E-learning and Distance Learning programmes during this difficult time of COVID-19.
Established by IDP Education in Cambodia in 1992, ACE will be underwriting this part-time scholarship program with the support of its staff, teachers, relevant stakeholders and institutions. ACE, named one of the best four language educators globally in a PIEoneer Award Ceremony in London in 2018, runs six English teaching campuses in Cambodia with the student population of 25,000. ACE has switched its teaching delivery from physically face-to-face to digitally face-to-face approach leveraging of world class video conferencing platforms and learning management systems (LMS) apps during the current temporary school closure period in line with the guidance of the Government of Cambodia.
HE Dr Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport said that MoEYS has been working hard, with support from various ministries and institutions, to continue providing effective and quality education to students across Cambodia while the safety of students and communities is of the top priority. This ACE digital scholarship initiative is an example of how innovation could happen in our teaching approach using technology during a global crisis of this scale.

I commend Australian institutions such as ACE for doing a fantastic job to adapt and provide quality education to students in Cambodia during COVID-19,” said Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, HE Pablo Kang, who was honouring the MOU signing ceremony with his presence.

“The ACE Digital English Scholarships will support students in their English language acquisition which will be helpful to their up-coming high school graduation exams,” said IDP Education and ACE Country Director, Mr Mao Sreng.
According to the ACE Principal, Mr Ashley Irving, high school grade 12 students can fill out their scholarship application online from 02nd until 20th June, 2020. The Scholarship period will be from June to September 2020 leading up to the high school exams this year.
