Hi, I’m Garreth and I come from Ireland. My family have a farm so I used to live in the country and work with animals. However, I have been teaching English for more than ten years. I like teaching and it allows me to work in different places, like South America and Southeast Asia. Working at ACE has been great so far. The students have been very respectful and they are usually hard-working and my colleagues have helped me a lot. Working at ACE is also different because there are a lot of resources available to students and teachers. The GIL Centre is great. There hasn’t been the same resources at other schools that I have worked at, so ACE students have a great opportunity.

So far Cambodia has been great. I am enjoying learning about your country, and I am even getting used to the traffic.

 Mam Monineath
Samdech Pan Teacher

Greetings! I am a new teacher at ACE Samdech Pan. I was born and live in Phnom Penh. As for my educational background, I graduated from two different universities, which are Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) and National University of Management (NUM) in 2015. Apart from that, I had one-year hands on teaching experience at Hello American School during my senior year.

Personally, having decided to work at ACE is no surprise. I was once a student here, and now that I am a teacher, ACE has never failed to provide its best quality, endless support, and space for self-improvement. After spending my first three months working at ACE, I realised that I am given a lot of opportunities for my personal growth as well as chances to develop certain skills. What’s more important is I have the most understanding, helpful, and cooperative co-workers, and campus manager.

In 2007, I left America to teach overseas in South Korea. What I thought would be a one-year experience has turned into a career. I have been lucky enough to teach in South Korea, Australia, Vietnam and Cambodia. In Australia, I went to graduate school and received a Master’s Degree in Education – TESOL from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. My teaching style is based on the beliefs I have acquired from nine years of teaching experience. I pride myself of being an excellent grammar and writing teacher and do my best to put students in a position to succeed in these somewhat difficult skills. The part of teaching that I enjoy the most is seeing my students’ hard work rewarded with excellent test scores and seeing their confidence improve in their ability to command a very difficult second language. I have enjoyed my time at ACE and look forward to meeting my new students next term.

 Hou X Leang
Santhor Mok Teacher

Hello, there! My name is Hou X Leang, but most people call me “X Man”. I was born in Phnom Penh; therefore, I am a city dweller. I took a bachelor’s degree in the field of education at the Institute of Foreign Languages and graduated with three outstanding awards and one year of extensive teaching experience at Enrich Institute.

Having worked at ACE for a term, I have to acknowledge that there are many reasons why I love my workplace. First of all, my colleagues have always treated me warmly and as a family member, not just another co-worker. Secondly, my campus manager is undoubtedly amiable, approachable and understanding. Thirdly, all the classrooms are equipped with high-end learning technology, which greatly eases both teachers and students. Last but not least, I can teach students from all ages — be it children, teenagers, adults or old people — which gives me a better insight into the ways we teach English.
