The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular high-stakes English language proficiency test for study, work and migration with more than 3 million tests taken in the past year.

It is the test that opens doors to a world of academic and professional opportunity in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, the USA and many other places around the world where English is a language in the workplace or the classroom.

I have 3 tips to tell you about, they are: reading quickly, time management and relaxation.

Reading quickly

To do this, you will need to guess some words that you don’t know and also skip the ones that aren’t important. In reading, you will see a lot of academic words and you won’t be able to know all of them. To be able to guess the meaning is an essential skill to have during the reading exam and sometimes even when listening and writing. You will be able to save time to do other exercises and check your work as well.

Time management

This is crucial for long exams such as exams in writing and reading. You will be given one hour in both so you will have to spend that time wisely. Before answering, I would spend a few minutes looking at the questions first to see which one is the hardest and estimate how much time you need to complete them. Then, I would do the easier ones first and save as much time as possible to do the harder ones. This means that there is a lower chance of you running out of time and you may also gain some time to check your answers.

Relaxation

Finally, taking care of yourself before the exam is just as important as the preparation. You should get enough sleep and have a positive attitude prior to the test. This would make you less prone to stress so you can perform at your peak when it matters.

What I want you to take from this article is that time is really important and you should use it wisely.
