ACE Khmer New Year Charity, Star-Studded Celebration for a Good Cause

The third ACE Khmer New Year Charity was held on April 2 to raise money for the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital. It wasofficially opened by HE Serei Chumneas, Under-Secretary of State of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The event was held in Building B&C on Diamond Island. There were about 1,200 participants and the event raised about $16,000.
A galaxy of celebrities attended including Tep Boprek, Tell Thai, Chamroeun Sopheak, Sovathdy Thearika, Sam Rocker, Nikki Nikki, Marie, Sai, So Srornos, Soria Oung, The Mustache, and Tony Winson. In addition, there were audition performances as well as traditional dances by dance-ROBAM.

A fashion show celebrating traditional Khmer costumes together with traditional Khmer New Year games and dancing were also included in the event. There were also catering booths with representatives from companies such as Costa Coffee, Partea time, Lapop, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. In addition, there were catering booths run by IDP/ACE staff, teachers and students who were kept busy by the crowd of buyers. There were also tattoo and selfie booths which were very popular. There was a children’s playground sponsored by Baby Care.

The event also had a number of sponsors to support the charity including ACE as diamond sponsor, IDP as gold sponsor, Monash University and Monash College as T-shirt sponsor, Three6 as Sound and Lightning sponsor, Holmesglen as silver sponsor, United Knowledge and Norak Engineering Co. Ltd as Bronze sponsors, Annussa and Kqube as media partner, and many more in kind sponsors including Seng Hok Heng catering, Baby Care, Pronith Pithy, P-Ink printing, Click printing, VOP Music, Eclip coffee, Kam House coffee and Pro Paintball.

Several exhibitors also supported this fund raiser including Costa Coffee, Partea time, Lapop, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Premium Party, Chhay Hok computer, and Forte Insurance.
The event was organised by ACE students and staff led ACE student ambassadors, and IDP social committee.
Many participants said they were “very satisfied” with the organisation of the event and to raise funds for Kantha Bopha Childrend’s Hospital.
