Australian Catholic University Information Session

By Vantak Chheang, IDP Student Placement Manager

IDP Education (Cambodia) provides student placement services to five countries: Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. Most importantly, the IDP Student Placement office offers a free service which includes counselling on study options, range of course fees, and visa application processes.

To support students in this process IDP hosts regular info sessions where university representatives speak about their university, discuss what it has to offer, how to apply, and answer any questions from audience members. These sessions provide a platform for interested students to make the best decision on their study abroad application.

On 13 January 2018, Australian Catholic University (ACU) hosted an info session in Phnom Penh. ACU is the only Australian university offers a unique combination of academic quality, concern for the welfare of individual students and a choice of campuses in: Brisbane, Sydney (North Sydney and Strathfield), Canberra, Melbourne and Ballarat. They also have a campus in Rome, Italy. Australian Catholic University was formed in 1991 through the amalgamation of four Catholic tertiary institutions with experience and traditions going back to the mid-1800s. ACU is a public University, funded by the Australian government. The awards are equivalent to those of other public universities in Australia and are recognised worldwide. The distance between the campuses is bridged by an increasingly sophisticated system of technology. Many students who are not Catholic attend the University. Whatever your beliefs we will respect them in the spirit of tolerance that characterises our University. We are proud to have:

  • Students who think critically, ethically and bring about change in their communities and professions
  • Courses that are important to society as well as relevant to a variety of careers
  • Staff who are keen to assist international students and to make their stay in Australia as rewarding as possible
  • Over 34,000 students with a high staff-to-student ratio. Over 4,000 International students from over 92 countries, who enjoy the warm and supportive environment
  • High course completion and satisfaction rates

“Studying at ACU offers both value to parents through our affordable pathway and degree programs and career-ready opportunities upon graduation to students who undergo our practical work placements. ACU offers support from all levels – career; financial; academic; wellbeing and part-time work.

ACU graduates become ‘Career Ready’ upon graduation as they are equipped with practical skills, work internships and volunteering programs while they are studying with us. ACU students are able to ‘Earn as you learn’ with student jobs on campus.  All ACU students have access to confidential counselling services, careers advice and guidance, academic skills and language support, disability services and on-campus ministry.

Our students have soul. They have heart. But more than that – they have the courage to turn their compassion into action. We empower our students to achieve their goals, and accomplish something incredible for themselves, and for others. If you want to look beneath the surface, stand up for what you believe in, and redefine success – you’re going to thrive at ACU!”

- Elaine Koh, Regional Manager at the Australian Catholic University
