First, I would love to thank my teachers, friends and especially my family for supporting me to get to this opportunity. My favourite teacher in the CP program is Ms Sopheak. She always makes us happy; she is funny and kind. She has us do things like puzzles, drawings, colouring and more. Teacher Vattana is the best! She taught us in CP 8 and she has a great skill in teaching. She let us know about one game called Kahoot. It is the type of game that can challenges my classmates and I through using lessons we have learned.

One of my favourite subjects in class is reading. I find reading very easy and writing the hardest, because with writing you must remember the structure and tenses to use. At first, I wasn’t that great at writing but with the help of my friends and teachers, I definitely got better at it. In my experience of learning English, there are lots of ways to improve. I recommend books; books are a great way to learn. It may seem boring but trust me, it is very interesting. I myself learn by reading books. There are tons of varieties you can choose from and not only is it fun but it also helps improve your English, such as your vocabulary, your reading skill, creativity and so on. If you are interested you should try to join the book club. You can find lots of book there; there are different genres and storylines. It is also suitable for any level.

I began at ACE almost one year ago. The reason why I chose to take ACE courses was to prepare myself for IELTS and hopefully achieve a high band score. Back then, I believed a 7.0 was impossible for me. This is due to the fact that I tried doing past papers before in books that I got from my mom because she studied at ACE beforehand and to be honest, they were very challenging and nerve-racking. An example I think most of you can relate to is writing task 1 when you are given two pie charts. It is a difficulty we will all face; the ability to distinguish between which information we should leave out and which information we should include in our essay. Or many of you might have a problem staying in the range of word count. For me especially, I tend to go way over the word count which is under 150 words, but some of you might find it difficult to reach the word count. After taking ACE courses, I know I might sound like a sell-out, but ACE has made me become calmer, more composed and more confident in myself. I call that the three “C”s. I am very grateful for this opportunity and even after the IELTS I am still pursing the ACE Diploma Program. I recommend it to everyone here in this hall, so that we can further enhance our English. As you know there is no finish line to learning.

Diploma GraduateBeginning in English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP), I have studied five courses before the school introduced the Diploma Program. I found the Diploma Program very appealing since it allowed me to focus on very specific skills. Eventually, I completed six Diploma Program courses among which the one that interested me the most was Public Speaking and Debate. Normally you have to give various types of speeches but I also felt an improvement in my confidence on stage after finishing the course. Being able to stand behind this podium while giving this speech to this large audience as well as managing my anxiety, I owe it all to this course. Now to my fellow graduates, congratulations for making it this far; however, our journey is not over yet. Learning a foreign language is challenging and it requires a lot of work. Therefore, to obtain the expertise in the field, we will have to be patient, persistent and consistent in our studies. Thank you!
