Faculties and Programs

AUT offers an internationalized curriculum and broad access to a diverse range of student experiences to shape global leaders in an ever changing world. AUT is accredited by the New Zealand Government and globally competitive with over 250 programs available within the faculties of:

Faculty of Culture and Society (include arts, education, hospitality, tourism and even management, language and culture, social science and public policy)
Faculty of Business and Law (include business school and law school)
Faculty of Design and Creative Technology (include arts and design, communication studies, IT, engineering, science)
Faculty of Health and Environmental Science (include applied science, health science, Sport and recreation)
Faculty of Maori Development (include Maori development program)

Tuition Fee

AUT charges tuition fees on the basis of course enrolment rather than by program. The fees for courses vary from faculty to faculty and sometimes within a faculty. The estimated international student’s tuition fee for 2015 is rank from NZD 23,570 to NZD 30,680 for undergraduate programs and, from NZD 23,800 to NZD 46,410 for postgraduate program. The estimation tuition fee for Doctor Program is NZD 31,000 while it costs only NZD 6,187 for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Entry Requirement for Most Subjects

Undergraduate:    6.0 with no band less than 5.5
Postgraduate: 6.5 with no band less than 6.0


Pathway Program

AUT International House is one of New Zealand's leading English language teaching organizations. It is part of the Auckland University of Technology, which was originally founded as a Technical School in 1895 and became a university in January 2000. It offers certificates, diplomas, degrees and post-graduate programs and has over 25,000 students enrolling each year in the Faculties of Arts, Business, Health Studies, Mãori Development, and Science and Engineering.

AUT International House is the only New Zealand member of the International House World Organization. International House is an educational trust established with the aim of improving the standard of English language teaching worldwide. Over 120 affiliated schools and teacher training branches in 50 countries make up the IH World Organization. Over 60,000 students follow language courses in IH schools each year.
The AUT University Certificate in Foundation Studies is delivered by an independent education provider Academic Colleges Group (ACG). AGC has one of the best NZ records in international education.



ACG is located in the central business district, a 5-minute walk to AUT City Campus, and offers a foundation certificate in a wide range of subjects: Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Culture and Society, Design, Drawing, Economics, Electro mechanics, English, Mathematics, Statistics and Tertiary Study Skills. The curriculum includes core training in English and independent learning skills.
Upon completion of the Certificate in Foundation Studies, and meeting the published requirements, students are guaranteed entry to an appropriate AUT undergraduate degree.
Course duration ranges from seven months to fifteen months and there are four starting dates per year - January, May, July and October.
While studying the Certificate in Foundation Studies at ACG students will have access to the AUT Library, Learning Development Centre and sports facilities.

Successful completion of The Auckland Foundation Year (AFY) guarantees international students entry to any AUT undergraduate provided they achieve the published requirements for that program. Taylors College is proud of the high rate of success its students have in gaining admission to university.

Students in The Taylors College AFY program follow an academic program comprising 5 subjects, selected from the following options:  Accounting, Art, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Classical Studies, English (Compulsory), Geography, Information Technology, Physics, Statistics.

Courses are of 7 to 15 months duration and there are five starting dates per year - in January, April, July, August and October.
