IELTS High Scorers

Lyheng Heang, GEP 12, IELTS 7.0 (Listening 8.0)

I used the GIL Centre a lot because it has great reading tests. At home, I would do a lot of research on websites such as “IELTS Buddy” for more reading practice.

Sonita Khok, GEP 12, IELTS 7.0 (Listening 7.5)

I think I did well as a result of all the practice I did at the GIL Centre and on websites. I also listened to a lot of music in English and watched a lot of movies in English, without subtitles, to help me improve my listening.

Dana Lin, GEP 12, IELTS 7.0 (Listening 7.5)

My advice is to use the GIL Centre as much as possible. The preparation I did there helped me to obtain good scores on the listening and reading tests.

Pichpisey Liv, GEP 12, IELTS 7.0 (Listening 8.5)

Some advice I can give is to try to listen to native speakers. For example, watch TV shows from the US, the UK and Australia, because in the IELTS listening test, most of the speakers are from those countries.

Vireakboth Ngin, GEP 12, IELTS 6.5 (Reading 7.0)

I would like to tell candidates to try their best and to stay focused, especially from GEP Level 11A onwards. That is where your IELTS preparation starts.

Solinna Oeung, Diploma Program, IELTS 7.0

I practiced at least twice a week, doing practice tests and then checking my answers. It really helped me to improve. I would study on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so on Wednesdays and Fridays I would go to the GIL Centre one hour before class to practice.

Sethyreach Puk, Diploma Program, IELTS 7.0 (Listening 7.5)

Personally, I practiced a lot at the GIL Centre. I spent most of my time doing practice tests, one after another. This helped me improve my listening skills, in particular, but it also improved my vocabulary skills tremendously.

Sorveacha Sim, GEP 12, IELTS 7.5 (Listening 8.0)

My best advice is to take mock IELTS tests. Watching movies in English, listening to music in English, speaking in English, and generally surrounding yourself with English are also good strategies.

Sothearith Sok, Diploma, IELTS 7.0 (Listening 8.5)

I always watch YouTube videos and any other content that is only in English. ACE has a lot of materials to work with in its GIL Centres.

Vivathana Sopha, Diploma, IELTS 7.0 (Listening and Reading 8.0)

I advise candidates to read in English as much as possible. Pick up any book you like and read it. Listening to music and watching YouTube videos in English are also helpful.
