Over 1,200 Students Attended the Australian Education & Scholarship Expo
Organised by IDP Education (Cambodia), the Australian Education & Scholarship Expo brought together representatives from 39 Australian education institutions. The Expo, which took place on 7 March 2019 at the Great Duke Phnom Penh (formerly InterContinental Hotel), provided an opportunity for students and parents to receive face-to-face advice and guidance on study options in Australia.
IDP Education is a world leader in international education and student placement services for Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, the UK and Ireland. IDP Education now has over 100 offices in more than 32 countries worldwide.
“For decades Australia has been a very popular choice for Cambodian students and their families to fulfil their education dreams and pave the way towards their individual career aspirations upon their return to Cambodia. Australia provides a world-class education at all levels and is recognised internationally for this”, said Mao Sreng, Country Director, IDP Education (Cambodia).
One of the largest Australian education showcases in Cambodia, 39 Australian education institutions were represented at the Expo, and over 1,200 students and parents had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives from these institutions to receive advice and information on study options for secondary school, vocational education and university programs, as well as information on relevant scholarships and visa requirements. IDP Education (Cambodia) provided free study abroad counselling and application assistance, and entry to the Expo was free.
“I am so glad I joined the Australian Education & Scholarship Expo today! I was able to meet with so many representative and get answers to all my questions about studying abroad”, said a student from a local school.
“I would like to thank IDP for promoting this important agenda by hosting expos like this for 15 years. These expos continue to be a great opportunity for prospective Cambodian students and of course their families to meet with representatives from a range of Australian institutions. I would like to thank all the representative here, because events like this wouldn’t be possible without your continued engagement and support”, said Luke Arnold, Deputy Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, in his speech to launch the Australian Education & Scholarship Expo.
Also represented at the Expo were the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) and the IELTS Cambodia Official Test Centre. Representatives from ACE were there to discuss opportunities to study English to meet the requirements of Australian education institutions, and IELTS representatives had the new computer-delivered IELTS (CDI) on display for interested students to practice taking the IELTS test.
With CDI, candidates can now choose to take the IELTS test on a computer. CDI more effectively caters to the increasing demand for the test around the world, as well as serving test-takers by making better use of emerging technology. As the only IELTS Official Test Centre in Cambodia, IDP Education (Cambodia) is excited to be able to offer this new test-taking experience to candidates taking the test for study, work or migration purposes.
