Curtin University
Curtin University is Western Australia’s largest university. Curtin is an innovative, global University known for its high-impact research, strong industry partnerships and commitment to preparing students for jobs of the future. When you join Curtin, you join an international family.
Around a third of our 53,000 students come from a country outside Australia, which adds a valuable dimension to your university experience, both in and out of the classroom. Curtin was established in 1966 as the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT). It gained university status and was renamed Curtin University of Technology in 1987. In 2011 it became Curtin University. John Curtin, from whom the University takes its name, is widely considered to be one of the country’s greatest leaders. He was Prime Minister of Australia from 1941 to 1945, when he died in office. Curtin is a vibrant institution with an exciting future and I invite you to join us as we move forward to help make tomorrow better. Their vision is to become a recognised global leader in research, education and engagement. With an expanding global presence, including locations in Perth, Malaysia and Singapore, Curtin University boasts a rich diversity of cultures in its students and staff, and a commitment to international engagement.
They also have a long-standing focus on Indigenous education and culture, supported by our Centre for Aboriginal Studies. They offer a range of industry-aligned undergraduate and postgraduate courses in business, humanities, health, engineering and science across our campuses and online, which are available in various study modes. They also deliver select courses through specialty locations in regional Western Australia, including the Curtin WA School of Mines in Kalgoorlie, which has an international reputation for excellence in mining education and research. By being exposed to business and industry during their studies, students can expect to graduate career-ready with highly sought-after knowledge, skills and experience. In addition, students may be able to benefit from being exposed to research conducted at Curtin that can make a real difference to industry and the community. Curtin’s commitment to excellence in teaching and research extends beyond course delivery. They forge significant, mutually-beneficial partnerships with industry and community organisations to share the benefits of their research outcomes and provide students the opportunity to learn in real workplaces. As a leading global university, they strive to research and educate in ways that address international issues and challenges. Their teaching is delivered to a high standard across all their locations. Their campuses in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates are viewed as equally important, and they try to emphasise connections and collaborations as much as possible in our daily practices. Based in Western Australia, Curtin also has campuses in Malaysia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Their campuses are vibrant, welcoming spaces that value diversity and difference, emphasise industry connections and practical learning, have a strong commitment to social justice, and foster a forward-thinking culture for our students, staff and the wider community. In line with developments in Perth, they are beginning to transform our main Bentley Campus into a cultural hub where members of the community can live, study, work and socialise together as part of the Greater Curtin project.
