Organised by IDP Education (Cambodia), the UK Education & Scholarship Expo brought together 14 UK education institutions. The Expo, which took place on 19 January 2019 at ACE Tuol Kork Campus in Phnom Penh, provided an opportunity for students and parents to receive face-to-face advice and guidance on study options in the UK.

The event is one of the largest UK education showcases in Cambodia, a world leader in international education and student placement services for the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US and Ireland. IDP Education now has over 100 offices worldwide, including offices in the UK.

Mr Mao Sreng, Country Director, IDP Education (Cambodia) making his Welcome Remarks

“The United Kingdom provides a world-class education at all levels and is recognised globally for this standard. More and more Cambodian students and their families are considering and choosing to send their children to the UK to fulfil their education dreams paving the way towards their individual career aspiration upon their return to Cambodia”, said Mr Mao Sreng, Country Director, IDP Education (Cambodia).

14 UK education institutions were represented at the Expo, and over 400 students and parents had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives from these institutions to receive information on study options for secondary school, vocational education and university programs, as well as information on relevant scholarships and visa requirements. There was free entry into the Expo, with access to IDP’s student enrolment services also free.

HE Tina Redshaw, British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia making her Opening Remarks

“Not only is studying in the UK access to world-renown institutions but it also means enhancing career opportunities as degrees from UK institutions are highly valued world-wide. I hope the UK Education & Scholarship Expo provides all the students and parents with the window into the world of opportunity for when you choose to study in the UK”, said British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Her Excellency, Tina Redshaw in her opening speech.

Joining the Expo was the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) and the IELTS Cambodia Official Test Centre. Representatives from ACE were there to discuss opportunities to study the English language to meet the requirements of UK education institutions, and IELTS introduced the new computer-delivered IELTS (CDI) with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

With CDI, candidates can now choose to take the IELTS test on a computer. CDI is believed to better cater to the increasing demand for the test around the world, as well as serving test takers by making better use of emerging technology. As the only IELTS Official Test Centre in Cambodia, IDP Education (Cambodia) is excited to be able to offer this new test-taking experience to candidates taking the test for study, work or migration purposes.

When a student from Sovannaphumi School was asked about their time at the Expo, they said, “I really enjoyed attending this expo. I got to meet with representatives and get answers to all my questions about studying in the UK”.
